Rising damp occurs when water from the ground rises up through the stone joints or brick wall or sometimes concrete floor slab by a process called Capillarity It causes efflorescence i.e (white powdery deposit on the surface of the wall), peeling of paint, Damp musty smell, growing of black mould, the surface of the wall will be cold or feel Damp.
And this does not only cause destruction to the walls but also cause health problems.
